SUCCESS—
We want that for YOU!
To assist you in
starting off on the right foot, EMCC offers a comprehensive New Student
Orientation program on line along with on-campus activities before
classes begin .
Why is New
Student Orientation important to
you?
Goals of New Student Orientation
-
Introduce you to people,
programs, and services that can support you educationally and
personally.
-
Guide you in
understanding EMCC procedures and policies as well as where to find
information you need to be successful.
-
Create an atmosphere that
reduces anxiety and stimulates excitement with the process of
beginning college.
EMCC’s orientation program is a two-part activity and is a
combination of information, exploration and fun!
Part One-ONLINE: We require that all incoming students complete before
classes begin.
This tool is designed to provide you
with important information related to EMCC services, policies, and
resources. Because policies, deadlines, key campus locations and personnel
do often change from year to year, we require students who have changed
their major or returned from a leave of absence to complete online
orientation again.
Part Two-ON CAMPUS: These activities are strongly encouraged.
You are urged to take advantage of this time to meet new friends, tour the
campus, purchase textbooks, participate in workshops, submit necessary
immunization records, and take care of any unfinished business before
classes begin in a few short weeks. A light lunch will be provided.
At the end of this online
orientation program (part one), you will submit an electronic form to
the Admissions Office as verification that you have completed this
mandatory activity. You will provide your name, student ID number and
program of study.
Please set aside 45 minutes to 1 hour in order to allow enough time to
complete this online requirement!
In order to view many of the links included in
this orientation, you will need AdobeReader version 7.0 or higher.
